InTouch magazine, a sister publication
of ONCOLOGY and Oncology News International, has been selected by the National
Library of Medicine to be indexed and included in Index Medicus and Medline.
InTouch is published by PRR for cancer patients and their families.
"It’s a real tribute to the editorial quality of
InTouch," said Steven T. Rosen, MD. Dr. Rosen, director of the Robert H.
Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center, serves as medical editor-in-chief for InTouch,
which just celebrated its third year of publication.
The National Library of Medicine looks to an advisory
committeethe Literature Selection Technical Review Committeeto choose
journals and other publications for citation. Composed of authorities
knowledgeable in the field of biomedicine, the committee includes physicians,
researchers, educators, editors, health science librarians, and historians who
review and recommend titles for indexing. The databases in the Medlars system in
which InTouch will appear are Index Medicus and Medline. These databases are
available online internationally.
"We’re delighted that the NLM has recognized the integrity and value
of the information in InTouch," said Dr. Rosen. "Their endorsement
furthers our mission, which is to give patients and their loved ones the most
authoritative and up-to-date information on cancer prevention and treatment so
that they can be better informed about their health care."
