CHICAGOThe laptops were humming at The Oncology Group's Exhibit Hall booth at ASCO, as SearchMedica introduced its new professional medical search engine for cancer specialists (www.SearchMedica.com/oncology).
SearchMedica Oncology joins two other specialty specific search engines (Primary Care and Psychiatry) offered through SearchMedica.com, a free web-based service that connects physicians and other medical professionals to credible medical websites, online journals, and other clinical resources.
SearchMedica Oncology includes PubMed's Medline, but without results related to animal studies or research not relevant to practice.
All SearchMedica Oncology search results are independent, unbiased, and ranked according to relevance, with the option to prioritize results by publication date, meeting abstracts, and others.
The specialty engine provides more relevant, smaller sets of results than do mainstream engines. Searching for "lung cancer vaccine" on Google, for example, returns more than 1 million results, compared with fewer than 2,500 with SearchMedica Oncology. The new engine was developed by CMPMedica, publisher of ONI. It can also be accessed at www.cancernetwork.com, the site for CMPMedica's The Oncology Group. For additional information see the SearchMedica Oncology ad on page 18.
