BETHESDA, MarylandTwo National Institutes of Health (NIH) units
will jointly fund the design and construction of three new synchrotron
beamlines as a way to increase x-ray crystallography studies of proteins.
The National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of General Medical
Sciences expect the $23 million project to be fully operational in about 3
years. The three beamlines will be added to the new Advanced Proton Source at
Argonne National Laboratory in Illinois.
