Encouraging Avastin results in glioblastoma multiforme

DALLAS—Phase II data showed 6-month progression-free survival in 36% of relapsed glioblastoma patients given Avastin (bevacizumab) alone and 51% given Avastin plus irinotecan(Drug information on irinotecan) (Camptosar), compared with historical estimates of 15%. UCLA's Timothy Cloughesy, MD, reported the findings at the Society for Neuro-Oncology annual meeting.
