Chemotherapeutic agents and their uses, dosages, and toxicities

The chemotherapeutic agents included in this Appendix are classified by mechanism of action and are organized as follows:

• alkylating agents;

• antimetabolites;

• natural products;

• targeted agents
– monoclonal antibodies
– molecularly targeted therapies

FDA-approved uses and dose-limiting effects are set in italic type for emphasis. For a complete discussion of these mechanisms of action, see chapter 3 on “Principles of oncologic pharmacotherapy.”
