ABOUT THE ACTIVITY
This activity is based on articles and reports in ONCOLOGY Nurse Edition. It is developed from an identified educational need for information about practical management issues in medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. This activity has been developed and approved under the direction of Beam Institute.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After reading this supplemental issue of ONCOLOGY, participants should be able to:
• Appreciate resources available to oncology nurses providing palliative care to cancer patients.
• Understand important issues that guide management of persons recently diagnosed with a malignancy and ways to address these concerns.
• Review findings of key reports that characterized the diverse needs of cancer survivors and outlined guidelines for care of this population.
• Discuss initiatives to ensure quality care for survivors and the advocacy groups and organizations that spearheaded these efforts.
TARGET AUDIENCE
This activity targets nurses, physicians, and physician assistants in the fields of oncology and hematology.
