About the Activity
This activity is based on review articles in the journal ONCOLOGY. It is developed from an identified educational need for information about practical management issues in the practice of medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. This activity has been developed and approved under the direction of CME LLC.

Learning Objectives
- Explain the role of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase
(PARP) in repair of DNA damage, and the potential
benefit of PARP inhibitors as treatment for specific
cancers, including BRCA-associated breast and
ovarian cancers, and triple-negative breast cancer. - Highlight current clinical trials of PARP inhibitors in
BRCA-associated cancers, and in triple-negative
breast cancer - Discuss the issues and challenges surrounding the
treatment of older cancer patients - Describe standards of care and important studies
germane to the cancers commonly seen in the elderly
Target Audience
This activity targets physicians in the fields of oncology and hematology.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Countinuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of CME LLC and The Oncology Group. CME LLC is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The goal of this activity is to clarify challenging treatment issues of HER2+ breast cancer including incorporation of predictive and prognostic biomarker tests and evidence-based data into practice when determining individualized strategies that improve patient survival and quality of life.
