Integrating Genetics and Genomics Into Oncology Nursing
After reading this issue of ONCOLOGY Nurse Edition, participants should be able to:
- Explain the roles that genetics and genomics play in health and disease, including cancer.
- Highlight key genetic and genomic research projects that are further illuminating the genetic basis of cancer.
- Describe ways in which genetic and genomic information can be used in cancer screening, diagnostics and prognostics, and treatment selection.

This series of case presentations (five individual cases) will provide oncologists and other healthcare professionals with strategies for evaluating evidence-based data on the latest treatments in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) and the application of that data into the development of individualized approaches to care, including overcoming resistance, in order to optimize management and outcomes for patients.
