ABOUT THE ACTIVITY
This activity is based on articles and reports in ONCOLOGY Nurse Edition. It is developed from an identifi ed educational need for information about practical management issues in medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. This activity has been developed and approved under the direction of CME LLC.

Integrating Genetics and Genomics Into Oncology Nursing

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After reading this issue of ONCOLOGY Nurse Edition, participants should be able to:
  • Explain the roles that genetics and genomics play in health and disease, including cancer.
  • Highlight key genetic and genomic research projects that are further illuminating the genetic basis of cancer.
  • Describe ways in which genetic and genomic information can be used in cancer screening, diagnostics and prognostics, and treatment selection.



ACCREDITATION
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of CME LLC and The Oncology Group. CME LLC is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. CME LLC designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This series of case presentations (five individual cases) will provide oncologists and other healthcare professionals with strategies for evaluating evidence-based data on the latest treatments in metastatic breast cancer (MBC) and the application of that data into the development of individualized approaches to care, including overcoming resistance, in order to optimize management and outcomes for patients.
