Granulosa-cell tumor of the ovary represents approximately 2% of all ovarian tumors.
The adult type is much more common than the juvenile form, the latter accounting for less than 10% of all cases of this tumor. Estrogenic manifestations are commonly associated with granulosa-cell tumor. Both juvenile and adult types have malignant potential with the possibility of recurrence or metastasis.
The treatment depends on whether the woman is young or menopausal. In recurrent tumors, chemotherapy may be used.
