Answer
C. Malignant mesothelioma
Comment
Mesotheliomas in general are unusual tumors that occur primarily in the serosal surfaces, namely pleura, pericardium, and peritoneum.
The tumor has been linked to asbestos exposure, and approximately 50% of patients afflicted by this tumor will provide a history related to asbestos exposure.
The tumor is more common in adults, but it has been reported in children. There is no specific treatment but patients may be treated with chemotherapy or with extrapleural pneumonectomy. The prognosis for patients with malignant mesothelioma is still poor.
