C. Goblet cell carcinoid
Comment
Goblet cell carcinoid is also known as mucinous carcinoid or adenocarcinoid. The tumor is rare and often occurs in older individuals. The symptoms may be those related to appendicitis.
Even though surgical resection of the appendix is the treatment of choice, such treatment may be modified in cases in which the tumor is not confined to the appendix. There are some proponents who advocate for more radical procedures.
This type of carcinoid appears to be more aggressive than the conventional carcinoid tumor.
