Multifaceted Aggressive B-cell Lymphoma Calls for Targeted Therapy

May 23, 2012

FEATURED SEARCH TERM: Aggressive B-Cell Lymphoma

Each of the many subtypes of aggressive B-cell lymphoma has distinct molecular, biological, and cytogenetic characteristics. Some, such as Burkitt lymphoma, are simply more aggressive, with a high proliferative index, and thus demand more intensive chemotherapy. A range of novel therapies target the subtypes in a tailored fashion. Learn more in this review article about the regimens, both solo and combined, that are likely to be most effective across the spectrum of aggressive B-cell lymphoma.

The cancer micro-environment is multifaceted, providing structural support for neoplastic cells and acting as a foundation for tumor clone survival and expansion, not to mention local invasion and the ability to escape from the immunological response. Historically, this micro-environment wasn't considered to be a major player in aggressive B-cell lymphoma, but Italian clinicians are claiming otherwise. They delve into the micro-environment-centered dynamics that influence lymphoid clone progression in aggressive B-cell lymphomas and discuss how these dynamics chart the natural course of this highly malignant disease.

46-Year-Old CML Patient Develops Painful Ulceration
Ted Rosen, MD , September 10, 2012
