Australia set to build $1 billion ca center

The Commonwealth and Victorian governments have pledged $852.2 million (Aus) to create the Parkville Comprehensive Cancer Centre (Parkville CCC) in Melbourne. The $1 billion project is also supported by the University of Melbourne, the Peter MacCallum Hospital, the Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, and the Royal Women's Hospital.

The 3,300-square-foot Parkville CCC will be built on the site of a former dental hospital and will house up to 1,400 researchers as well as clinical trial facilities. The center will have 194 beds, eight medi-hotels, and 110 outpatient treatment rooms. Construction will begin in 2011 and is scheduled for completion in 2015
