ALEXANDRIA, Virginia-The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) has released an updated patients' version of the society's clinical practice guidelines on the treatment of unresectable non-small-cell lung cancer. The 13-page, evidencebased publication, titled "Advanced Lung Cancer Treatment," was developed, based on the latest clinical research, by a multidisciplinary panel led by David G. Pfister, MD. The guide provides help to patients and their families in learning more about available treatment options. Surgical and medical personnel, radiation oncologists, a pulmonary specialist, and a patient advocate helped develop the guide, which was reviewed and approved by ASCO's Health Services Research Committee, its Board of Directors, and an external peer review group. The patient guidelines are available at www.plwc.org.
