Martin D. Abeloff, MD
At the 2007 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) meeting, ASCO past president Martin D. Abeloff, MD, Marion I. Knott Professor and director of The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, received the Distinguished Service Award for Scientific Achievement for his leadership in the field of translational breast cancer research. Dr. Abeloff is editor-in-chief of ONI.
Charles M. Balch, MD
Charles M. Balch, MD, professor of surgery and oncology at The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, has been given ASCO's 2007 Special Recognition Award for his contributions to the fields of melanoma and breast cancer research. He was also recognized for his extensive service to ASCO and as a leader in the oncology community.
Lodovico Balducci, MD
ASCO's inaugural B. J. Kennedy Award and Lecture for Scientific Excellence in Geriatric Oncology was given to Lodovico Balducci, MD, who for 35 years has treated older patients with cancer and pursued scientific investigation of topics relevant to the management of cancer in the older population at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center & Research Institute, where he is leader of the Senior Adult Oncology Program.
