COLLEGEVILLE, Penn--Rhône-Poulenc Rorer Inc. and the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP) have announced the initiation of a new clinical trial (B-27) utilizing docetaxel(Drug information on docetaxel) (Taxotere) in women with operable breast cancer.
Randomization will be into three groups: All groups will first receive four cycles of Adriamycin and cyclophosphamide(Drug information on cyclophosphamide) (AC). After completion of AC, group I will have surgery to remove the local tumor; group II will receive four cycles of docetaxel, followed by surgery; group III will have surgery, followed by four cycles of docetaxel. All groups will take tamoxifen(Drug information on tamoxifen) (Nolvadex) for 5 years.
