Need to consult a clinical pathologist in Tokyo? Trying to contact a particular urologic oncologist in Milwaukee? Looking for an epidemiologist on the Internet? The Cancer Fax Directory may be the best place to start your search.
First produced in 1990, this unique reference provides more than 14,500 fax numbers, addresses, telephone numbers, and, where available, e-mail addresses of prominent oncologists, hematologists, and cancer researchers from around the world.
Now in its third edition, the Cancer Fax Directory is published by AlphaMed Press with support from the Hipple Cancer Research Center. As the publishers write in an introductory note, the book is "dedicated to enhancing communications among physicians and researchers, and thereby helping to quicken the pace of cancer research progress worldwide."
With more than 600 pages, the spiral-bound 1995 directory is 62% larger than the book's last update, which came out in 1992. A Geographical Index of Participants organizes entries by country and, in the United States, by state, while a Specialties Index offers an alternative means of finding participants.
A section of US National Cancer Institute listings has been expanded to include departments, and a section on Editorial Offices of Key Journals and Scientific Organizations provides the names and numbers needed to reach a selection of biomedical journal editorial offices.
Finally, a section of Selected Granting Agencies includes not only foundations and cancer funds but also numerous organizations that offer patient information and support.
With all listings presented in a clear format, the volume also provides easy instructions for international fax transmissions and updated dialing codes for all countries and major cities.
