SECAUCUS, NJ--To accommodate community-based physicians who may not be able to attend national professional meetings, the newly formed not-for-profit Solid Tumor Oncology Education Foundation, Inc. will sponsor a series of free local seminars and audioconferences, led by a faculty of expert physicians.
The programs will focus on breast, colorectal, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, gynecologic, pancreatic, and lung cancers, and include such subjects as adjuvant and palliative therapy, current and new protocol regimens, screening and diagnosis, and quality-of-life issues.
Beginning this month, the Foundation will offer a series of presentations conducted at local, state, and regional oncology meetings by leading oncolo-gists, as well as telephone audioconfer-ences, allowing health-care professionals to participate from their home or office.
The chairman of the Foundation is Paul A. Bunn, Jr., MD, University of Colorado Cancer Center. Board members are Laurence H. Baker, DO, University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center; Gabriel N. Hortobágyi, MD, University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center; John S. Macdonald, MD, Temple University Cancer Center; Robert F. Ozols, MD, PhD, Fox Chase Cancer Center, and Elizabeth J. Shpall, MD, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
