ABOUT THE ACTIVITY
This activity is based on an article published in ONCOLOGY Nurse Edition. It is developed from an identified educational need for information about practical management issues in medical, surgical, and radiation oncology. This activity has been developed and approved under the direction of CME LLC.

Fall Risk Assessment and Prevention

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
After reading the CE-designated article in this issue of ONCOLOGY Nurse Edition, participants should be able to:
• Discuss variables that can increase the risk of patient falls in the cancer hospital setting.
• Outline key nursing interventions and safety precautions that can help to prevent falls in cancer patients.
• Understand screening tools to assess individual patient risk of falls and initiate the appropriate nursing intervention, or patient referral.

ACCREDITATION
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of CME LLC and The Oncology Group. CME LLC is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider Number CEP12748 for 1 contact hour.

CREDIT DESIGNATION
CME LLC designates this journal-based CME activity for a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
 

GOAL STATEMENT
The purpose of this activity is to provide oncology nurses with current evidence-based guidelines and scientifically supported interventions to prevent falls in cancer patients in the hospital setting.
