Last month we asked our readers: If you were to start your career again, would you still choose oncology, would you pick a different specialty, or would you perhaps not choose a career in medicine at all? Here are the results.
Among all respondents, 78% indicated that they would again choose medicine, with 22% indicating that they would choose another profession altogether.
Among those who said they would stay in medicine, 55% indicated that they would again choose oncology.
We also asked our readers what lifestyle issue is most important to them. The largest portion (43%) of respondents indicated that time with friends and family was most important, followed by flexible hours, income, and type of practice.
