A 68-year-old woman presents with abdominal pain. Imaging shows the presence of a mass in the tail of the pancreas. Based on the image show, what is your diagnosis?
B. – Microcystic adenoma
This is a benign tumor composed of small cystic structures lined by epithelial cells. It represents about 1%–2% of exocrine tumors of the pancreas. It is more common in older women in the 70s or 80s. Some cases have been associated with von Hippel-Lindau disease. Common symptoms include abdominal pain. Surgical resection is curative in these patients.
