High dietary polyamines may foster colorectal adenomas

A high intake of dietary polyamines, which are commonly found in orange juice, corn, red meat, peas, and nuts, has been linked to the size and grade of colorectal adenomas found on screening colonoscopy.

Study sheds light on lung cancer and African Americans

African Americans have a higher mortality rate from lung cancer than Caucasians, a fact first discovered in the early 1980s. For decades, researchers have looked for differences in access to care, rates of surgery, and patient preferences to explain the disparity. Now it seems the answer may relate at least partly to the way African Americans think about lung cancer.

Everolimus achieves ‘potent’ results in rare form of NHL

There currently are no approved therapies for Waldenström macroglobulinemia, but everolimus (Afinitor) may be the answer. A collaborative phase II study showed encouraging single-agent activity with everolimus in relapsed and/or refractory disease.
