SILVER SPRINGS, Md—Recognizing that caregivers are the backbone of our health care system, developers of the Cancer Survival Toolbox advocacy program have added a new audiotape, “Caring for the Caregiver.” The tape provides cancer caregivers with self-advocacy tools to help them better cope with the disease and their own needs.

The Cancer Survival Toolbox has already helped more than 100,000 cancer survivors learn how to be their own advocate. The program is available free by calling 1-877-TOOLS-4-U (1-877-866-5748), or it can be downloaded by visiting the Cancer Survival Toolbox website located at www.cansearch.org/programs/toolbox.htm.

The Cancer Survival Toolbox was developed collaboratively by the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, headed by Betsy Clark, PhD, the Oncology Nursing Society, and the Association of Oncology Social Work.

The program is funded by an unrestricted educational grant from Genentech, Inc.
