Long-time ONCOLOGY contributor Jimmie C. Holland, MD, a founder of the field of psycho-oncology, who worked as a powerful and effective clinician and researcher up until the very end, passed away on Christmas Eve of 2017.

Intraperitoneal (IP) chemotherapy is a reasonable treatment approach for ovarian cancer because it can directly expose the surface tissues to which the cancer has disseminated to an extremely high concentration of the chemotherapy drug.

There will be no further randomized phase III trials of cytotoxic IP chemotherapy; IP therapy in ovarian cancer will soon be an historical footnote along with other failed approaches in cancer care.

In Part 2 of this review article, we discuss the management of primary CNS lymphoma, focusing in particular on systemic therapies and radiation, as well as provide clinicians with a comprehensive overview by covering the key investigations that have brought us to our current state of knowledge, and studies that may guide future interventions.
