Debating CAR T-Cell Therapy Vs Bispecifics at First Relapse in Myeloma

At the 2026 Society of Hematologic Oncology (SOHO) Annual Meeting, Noopur Raje, MD, director of the Center for Multiple Myeloma at Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, and Saad Z. Usmani, MD, MBA, FACP, FRCP, FASCO, chief of the Myeloma Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and a member of the International Myeloma Foundation’s Scientific Advisory Board, squared off in a point-counterpoint debate on whether CAR T-cell therapy or bispecific antibodies should be the preferred approach at first relapse in multiple myeloma. Thomas Martin, MD, associate director of the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF)’s myeloma program and director of the unrelated donor transplantation programs for adults at UCSF Medical Center, moderated the sessions. Usmani gave the presentation titled “Bispecifics Should Be Used at First Relapse in Multiple Myeloma,” and Raje presented “CAR Should Be Used First in RR MM.”
