Martin D. Abeloff, MD, Editor-in-Chief of Oncology News International, was a recent featured guest on "The Charlie Rose Science Series" on PBS television. The episode, entitled "The Latest in Cancer Research," was the fourth in a 12-part special series focusing on the importance of scientific research in human health.

NEW YORK—Martin D. Abeloff, MD, Editor-in-Chief of Oncology News International, was a recent featured guest on "The Charlie Rose Science Series" on PBS television. The episode, entitled "The Latest in Cancer Research," was the fourth in a 12-part special series focusing on the importance of scientific research in human health.

Dr. Abeloff, professor and director, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, was one of a panel of four oncology thought leaders who highlighted milestones in cancer genetics and research. Other panelists included Harold Varmus, MD, president, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center; David G. Nathan, MD, president emeritus, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute; and Deborah Schrag, MD, associate attending physician, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

The Science Series is underwritten by Pfizer, Inc. Episodes 1, 2, and 3 focused on the brain, the human genome, and longevity, respectively. Sir Paul M. Nurse, PhD, president of The Rockefeller University and the 2001 Nobel Prize Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, is Mr. Rose's co-host for the series.
