In this opening segment, Samantha Shenoy, NP, introduces the From All Angles discussion and is joined by Elizabeth Bohannon, who shares her experience living with multiple myeloma, and Isabel Curtin, LCSW, who provides a psychosocial and supportive care perspective. The conversation begins with Elizabeth reflecting on the symptoms that preceded her diagnosis in 2021, including persistent rib and back pain that she initially attributed to physical activity and aging. She describes the experience of learning that her symptoms were related to multiple myeloma and the emotional impact of receiving a serious cancer diagnosis. Elizabeth also reflects on her previous experience as an oncology nurse and how her understanding of multiple myeloma at that time shaped her initial reaction. The segment establishes the physical, emotional, and practical challenges of the relapsed/refractory multiple myeloma journey and sets the stage for discussion of treatment, quality of life, and supportive care.
