Estelamari Rodriguez, MD, MPH, of Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center walks through the mature overall survival data from the phase 3 MARIPOSA study of amivantamab plus lazertinib in epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-mutated advanced non–small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). At a median follow-up of 37.8 months, the combination improved overall survival with a hazard ratio of 0.75, with median overall survival not reached in the combination arm compared with 36.7 months for single-agent therapy. Matthew Gumbleton, MD, PhD, of Huntsman Cancer Institute says a median that has not been reached is a good problem, because it means patients are doing better for longer. He adds that the precise number matters less to patients than the chance of a durable response, and that the shape of the survival curve carries more weight in his decision-making than a single point estimate when he counsels a newly diagnosed patient.
